Next year, the 9th Swiss Alps Classics will take place in Andermatt from July 4 to 6, 2025. The concerts will be organized in cooperation with Andermatt Music.
The guest orchestra is none other than the FILARMONICA DELLA SCALA, one of the most famous orchestras in the world. "We have been working for three years to bring this top ensemble to Andermatt," explains Peter-Michael Reichel. "The idea has been around since Dominique Meyer became artistic director in Milan and I know him from his time in Vienna. I am extremely pleased that it will work out next year." The symphony concert of the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by JULIAN RACHLIN on the violin, will be performed on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 17:00 in the Andermatt Concert Hall.
Program with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Ludwig van Beethoven
For the season finale of Andermatt Music, the FILARMONICA DELLA SCALA is a guest in Andermatt. Without any vocals, the orchestra shines with works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Ludwig van Beethoven. The concerto for violin in E minor op. 64 (F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy) as well as the Coriolan Overture op. 62 and Symphony No. 7 in A major op. 92 (L. van Beethoven) will be performed.
JULIAN RACHLIN, the conductor and soloist on Sunday, is music director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor of the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. With a career spanning more than thirty years, Rachlin has taken his wide-ranging interests as conductor, soloist, chamber musician, teacher and artistic director all over the world.
The FILARMONICA DELLA SCALA was founded in 1982 by Claudio Abbado and the musicians of La Scala in Milan. The orchestra has worked with some of the greatest conductors of the time: Carlo Maria Giulini, Georges Prêtre, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Zubin Metha, Leonard Bernstein and many others. In the last 30 years, the Filarmonica has given more than 800 concerts on tour. Among the most important milestones are the orchestra's debuts in the United States with Riccardo Chailly and in China with Myung-Whun Chung.
